Hello.
We would like to purchase the following NAS system: TS-653D
However, we are absolute technology laymen and therefore still have some (many!) Questions.
We would be glad if you could help us.
Thanks in advance!
- Is it possible to connect an external hard drive for backup?
- Can you backup remotely to another computer?(So hard drive into computer outside office, backup data on there) / Alternatively backup to NAS in another location? (Basically to avoid damage from theft or water damage/fire).
- We need 20-30 TB in the long run.We would like to buy WD Red. Since there are different versions / which version is suitable for what? Does it make more sense (price-wise) to buy rather many smaller disks of under 10 TB, or rather directly only from 10 TB?
- Does it have an integrated independent power supply (UPS)? Some kind of power failure protection? Or do you have to buy them in addition / if so: which and how expensive and where?

Re: We need help! - TS-653D
Your questions repeat at the end
USB backups work of course ..yes
Cloud or remote backups work as well..both questions that need a sepperate thread
If you need 20-30TB usable space on a 6 bay device, go with raid6 and 10TB drives
no redundant power supply on that unit ..most are rackmount with that option
