Unable to map network drive

Post by ishbell15 »

Hi
I have a QNAP TS-251+ on QTS 4.5.4.1723. I am unable to map network drive, in Qfinder => "Storage plug and connect" did not show any folder.

at Windows file manager, when type \\192.168.1.100, it will pop up all shared folders, such "Documents", "Pictures", "Public". Only folder "Public" is accessible, I can open up this folder and access files. When I click on other folders eg "Documents" , error message shows "Windows cannot access \\192.168.1.100\Documents ", future diagnosis showed connection problem, see attached shots. I can access all shared folders via Qsync

thanks

Do you use a valid user to access the NAS. Sounds like the user is missing permissions.
NAS (production): TS-1635AX FW: QTS 5.1.4.2596 build 20231128
NAS (backup): TS-1635AX FW: QTS 5.1.4.2596 build 20231128

In fact, the windows process, afteer type in "\\192.1681.1000" at windows File Explorer" location bar, it did not ask for user/password.
the user/password information should be correct, I can login the web admin page and Qfinder functions

Hi Dolbyman,
I have the same problem with the same device (TS-251) and followed your advise to clear windows credentials.
No luck:
In the application"Storage Plug & connect" i don't see the shared folders and cannot create a shared folder either.
I can see the NAS in my Windows network environment but don't see any shares:

Windows error message = Windows cannot access \\NASTS251 (this is the name of my NAS)

I have another NAS, TS-130 and with the same configuration, i do not have this problem.

Hope you can help me.

Kind regards, Ron

I think only SMB1 is disabled in Win10, but maybe switch to SMB 2.1 or even SMB3 to check

No, you need to enable SMB 2.1 or 3 on the NAS

https://docs.qnap.com/operating-system/ ... 8B27F.html (QTS 4.5.x)
https://docs.qnap.com/operating-system/ ... 7174D.html (QTS 5.0.x)

Highest SMB version
&
Lowest SMB version

smbd (samba daemon) Version 4.13.17
smbd (samba daemon) is running.
max protocol SMB 2.1 enabled.
[~] # smb2status

smbd (samba daemon) Version 4.13.17
smbd (samba daemon) is running.
max protocol SMB 3 enabled.

Both changes did not make a difference.

What i don't understand is the error message with \\NASIP, the credentials are correct.
