Security Vulnerability Addressed in Photo Station 5.4.1 and 5.2.7

Summary

Photo Station 5.4.1 & 5.2.7 include the security fix for the vulnerability related to the XMR mining programs identified by internal research.

Solution

QNAP strongly recommends that you upgrade Photo Station on your NAS to the version 5.4.1 (or the version 5.2.7 if your NAS does not support QTS 4.3.x) immediately. After the upgrade, users are advised to install or update to the latest available version of Malware Remover to ensure continued protection against new mining program variants.

Upgrading Photo Station
Log on to QTS as administrator.
Open the App Center and then click the Search icon.
Type “Photo Station” and then press ENTER.
The Photo Station application appears in the search results list.
Click Update.
The application is updated.

Installing Malware Remover

Log on to QTS as administrator.
Open the App Center and then click the Search icon.
Type “Malware Remover” and then press ENTER.
The Malware Remover application appears in the search results list.
Click Install.
The application is installed.

Upgrading Malware Remover

Log on to QTS as administrator.
Open the App Center and then click the Search icon.
Type “Malware Remover” and then press ENTER.
The Malware Remover application appears in the search results list.
Click Update.
A confirmation message appears.
Click OK.
The application is updated.

Checking the Logs

To check if Malware Remover has detected and deleted malware, go to Control Panel > System > System Logs > System Event Logs.
