ts-453a dns warning

Post by mbafalos »

DNS settings are available on each adapter. If you previously selected "Fixed DNS" before migration, the first two active settings on each adapter are now selected

So what is your issue?

Use RAID and external backups. RAID will protect you from disk failure, keep your system running, and data accessible while the disk is replaced, and the RAID rebuilt. Backups will allow you to recover data that is lost or corrupted, or from system failure. One does not replace the other.

I do not know what he's experiencing but since i updated the same model to version 4.3.5 i'm getting the same message when booting.

Image

My problem is that i lost internet connection in all my containers.

Reset used for 3 seconds
Second adapter used
DHCP instead of fixed.
Removed CS / VS / LS ..

nothing seems to remove this message and fix my connection in the containers.

What does /etc/resolv.conf contain?

It says "nameserver 127.0.1.1"

Shouldn't this be 127.0.0.11? I read it somewhere?

It should be pointing to your DNS servers.

How do make sure that all new containers will use the correct dns settings?

And why is my default resolv.conf not using the correct setting?

I managed to edit my resolv.conf. with this command from within the container
echo nameserver 8.8.8.8 > /etc/resolv.conf

This solves my internet problem.

I ran into an issue where when assigning static IP addresses on the NAS the /etc/resolv.conf was being set to 127.0.0.2 or some other 127.0.x.x address. When I changed it to DHCP it was set to the DNS addresses provided by the DHCP server. I switched back to static and the 127 address was back. So I manually changed /etc/resolv/conf and it started working. I added the commands to update /etc/resolv.conf to my autorun so they get changed at boot. This has been reported to QNAP. If you use static try dhcp and see if it works. If so then you have the same problem and it should be reported to QNAP.

I have TS-453A. I had to do a configuration reset on the unit. And the DNS issue was resolved. But unfortunately all the apps I installed were gone. Which i hope to have a better solution to this for other users. I feel it is something to do with the Network & Virtual Switch.
