In case you have a problem installing MalwareRemover (or maybe another qpkg)..

.. and that you are not a noob

I would like to share what i have done :
I wanted to install MalwareRemover 3.4.0, i have downloaded MalwareRemover_3.4.0_20190121_173849.qpkg and then
sh MalwareRemover_3.4.0_20190121_173849.qpkg
but i had an error in QNAP admin webpage (in my case this was "MalwareRemover cannot be installed because Python 2 is not installed or enabled", but it can be something else).
To debug this i have binary edited MalwareRemover_3.4.0_20190121_173849.qpkg after a copy (binary because it begins by a script followed by binary : a text edit would corrupt the binary) to replace "/bin/rm -fr $_EXTRACT_DIR" by "echo $_EXTRACT_DIR"
Then i cd to this _EXTRACT_DIR dir and debugged the qinstall.sh (in my case, i have a QTS 4.2.4 with python included : i have just replaced BUILD_IN_PYTHON_AVALIABLE_QTS_VERSION="4.3.0" by BUILD_IN_PYTHON_AVALIABLE_QTS_VERSION="4.2.4" in package_routines and qpkg.cfg)
And now MalwareRemover_3.4.0 is installed and appears in AppCenter applications.

Maybe you could deconstruct the Malware Remover QPKG (with QDK), make your alterations, then recompile it into a new distributable?

Happy to assist if you need it. ;)

And I thought 3.4.1 was the latest Malware remover, (at time of writing) is that not so?

Agree, 3.4.1 was the current version when I last looked, but the OP’s modification might still be required. ;)
