Might be helpful info :

"On this question, I asked customer service in Taiwan, customer service gives the answer is

The reason why this model can not be turned on is not the motherboard design defects, but PCH chip defects caused by the problem, currently according to the serial number you provide, can not query the machine information, please provide serial number information again, screenshot or machine back serial number photo, thank you. "

"After confirming the serial number, customer service gives an extended warranty of one year

Hello:

To help you confirm the current policy is that when the TS-872XT appears on-board /abnormal restart/ unable to power on, this side will manually extend the warranty to 3 years, for example, your machine warranty period is 2021-02-13, then when you appear in the above situation to report for repair, before 2022-02-13, will be treated as a warranty, please know, thank you."

Have asked the question - for future ref# if anyone else has a similar query. I've been asked to remove all RAM, so they are expecting to receive it without any memory. They have said that is fine and will not cause a problem with return status.

Unsure if the machine I get will be a stock one with 4G in it, but we'll wait and see. They've given me an ETA of 7-10 days which isn't bad at all.

Hello

I have received today a new machine, after 1 month of RMA.
My unit wasn't under warranty (two years and a half) but Qnap has extended it to three years after telling them the problem with my TVS-872XT.
So I'm happy now, Qnap customer service has worked great with my problem. They don't say clearly there is a problem but they have fixed it so I must say that Qnap Customer service is working good.
New unit updated to Qts 5.0, and migrated 8 HDD without any problem.
I hope this new unit will work without any issues 🙏

It's really great to see that QNAP is fixing these machines! This has been such a great NAS aside from this one problem.

Hello, will your machine restart unexpectedly after updating to 5.0?

It's awesome to have found this thread! Great international community :D !

I'm relying on QNAP for many years now and except a PSU which failed me once on my old TS-559 Pro II in principle very happy with the devices.

Unfortunately now, out of nowhere, I have to add my TVS-827XT to this long list  :
  • QNAP TVS-872XT-i5-16G
  • S/N Q18...
  • Bought on 08.05.2019 via Amazon in Germany (so officially I'm out of standard warranty)
  • Motherboard version V1.3
  • Most likely running QTS 4.5.4.1787 build 20210910
Same symptoms like everyone else. Died on 28.10.2021 after soft shutdown.
Now no boot possible any more, power button not working, red LED of death (bottom, near CPU fans).

Support process with QNAP triggered, now waiting for RMA and hoping for QNAP's fairness to apply the 3yrs of advanced warranty and being fast on solving this major issue.

From the research I did myself throughout the last two days, it's definitely no "minor individual case scenario"..
I'll keep you updated, how it goes.

@Qmann: thanks a lot for your Google survey! Would be interesting to see some figures some day :) !

Hello everyone,
My TS-1283XU-RP just stop working last night (10/31/2021)
The unit is configured as follows:
8G Memory
12 x 10TB Seagate Exos
1 x QM2-4P-384
1 x 10G dual SFP card
Dual PSU

I powered off the unit from QTS and it never came back on.
There is a red light on the main board and the network interface cards link light is on.
The dual PSU does not have any light on them.

Like allot of what I have read on here, I have removed the drives and tall the expansion cards, memory and nothing makes a difference.

Looks like I am joining the club as well except with yet another model.
I have a TS-883XU-RP
8x6TB WD drives
Dual PSU

Was going to do the latest update in between servicing the front door for the trick or treat crowds last night and followed the "you should restart the NAS" advice...and then boom! Red LED on the mother board and otherwise dead. Up late trying to figure it out and gave up.
Glad I found this thread.

Another victim of the TVS 872XT. Purchased in the UK in September 2019. Simple shut down and restart..... well so I thought! Quickly came across this thread and started an RMA request.

I wanted to fill in the Google survey linked in this thread. Does anyone know where the version number of the motherboard is located?

Thanks

Just received my QNAP TVS-872XT from repair, with motherboard version 2.0. I repopulated drives in correct order. Now I’m unable to get login screen with both qfinder and direct IP address entry into browser. I’m getting the error message:
2021-11-05 18:23:00, the denied amount reach the set threshold: 30.
Any ideas? Reset button? Direct hookup via Thunderbolt? I don’t want to lose data on drives.
Thanks
Rich
