Mail Server

Post by lonesheep »

Hi,

I've recently purchased a QNAP TS453A, having upgraded from a Synology DS211j. Having set it all up, I am trying to create a mail server on it so I can decommission a desktop PC which has been undertaking that role.

I operate 4-5 email accounts (low usage). I see that the NAS has two mail packages Xmail and Xeams. I can't seem to set Xmail up - and Xeams seems to go through the setup process and then becomes unbrowsable!

If there a how to guide for getting a email server up? My existing "desktop" setup is using CentOS and postfix/dovecot.

Many thanks
Matt

Hello,
I am facing the same problem.
I have TS253A and firmware is 4.2.2
I just recently downloaded official app PHPxMail (version 1.5) I been struggling to log into it (local host). I tried all the following username and passwords but none of them is working:
admin/admin, root/root, root/admin, admin/root, my QNAP username and password, but no success. Has somebody got any clue what to do. I have uninstalled and re-installed it several time without any success.
WebDAV is enabled. Has anybody got any clue what's the default username and password?
My QNAP Details:
TS-253A
RAID: 1
Firmware version 2.2.2 (latest, I always update it within days of its release)

It should be the same as for the Qnap administration, admin/youradminpassword.

Hello,

I'm interested in setting up a mail server in my TS253A too.

To be precise, I want to:

- Save a backup copy of my Thunderbird emails in the mail server
- Create a new independent mail server, apart from the ones I have (@tyrexionibus.com)

How do I do this?

Do I need to purchase a new domain (like @forexample.com) to get to the second point?
And how do I reach the first point?

Currently there is NO mailserver in active development, and as far as i know there is NO descent mailserver like xdove working on qts >4.2.X.
