Why?!?!??
Please let me know why now I can't see my update to latest 5.0.0 firmware using the automatic update service from inside my nas, while a few days ago was asking me to update.
I just skipped to update because I had do verify if it was safe to upgrade, and so skipped its update a few times...but now if I go and check for updating, it says UP TO DATE!!!
What happened?!???
TS-251+ is not proposing me any more to update to firmware 5.0.0 after a few days and it says UP-TO-DATE with 4.5.x

QNAP probably pulled the update .. you should know by now that they do these things and never disclose rhyme or reason

5.0.0.1837 build 20211029 has been release for this model in the download section of Qnap. just not made available via the Firmware Update section of Control panel.
as I have said before QTS 5..x.x is very new and does contain bugs and incompatibilities. Personally if you have a an operational NAS, then wait a few months. plenty of updates to come i would guess.

Thanks for the replies,
I'm just surprised that they pulled the update from being able to be automatically updated from within the nas Firmware Update feature.
I'm good with my 4.5.x firmware, never had an issue, at least for the use that I do with it. Always kept my nas up to date for security reasons. That's all.
I am now thinking with what I would have ended with if I have did the update....
Will for sure wait till next Firmware Update, and then look at the features and bugs.
Will update this thread when I will get my Firmware Update message about a new firmware.
Cheers for now.

yep my 473 nas is a full working NAS with Databases, Webserver and other apps. I just dont want to give myself a headache just yet by updating that to QTS5.
my TVS-463 is the test NAS on QTS5. but only since 5.0.0.1828, now on 1837.
seems stable enough but will let it stay like that for a while.

Ok, now my TS-251+ is offering me again after a while to update my firmware to the latest that is QTS 5.0.0.1858 build 20211119.
Do you guys know why is it doing this now? What changed? Is it common that QNap could kill an automatic update and then reactivate auto updating for a new firware release?
Thanks!

Qnap responded to a thread on reddit that they had pulled the update due to users having issues. But I think they just shut down the update service completely. I'm on the July 4.x build and I don't get prompted for even the final 4.x build from September.
I don't know what changed that you see it again, but I'd stay away unless it contains critical functionality you need.

Normal QNAP behavior discussed *many* times already. The GUI is often a weeks behind manual downloads and is often pulled if there are issues. It's as simple as that. Best plan is get used to doing things manually, then you have control and know what is going on.

Thanks to both.
Now it keeps to ask if I'd like to update, but with latest version.
Still a bit scared as I am afraid to have major changes to interface and apps behavior.
I use it as a network server for files (Windows network file browsing) and Plex media server.
I have read on the Plex forums that the last version is compatible.
Still afraid of making a mess tho..

In that precise topic, just above last comment standing strange stability issues with PMS, conversation went along standing that there is no problem with latest QTS 5.0.0 and PMS.dolbyman wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 11:18 am where did you read that?
https://forums.plex.tv/t/is-latest-vers ... xxx/754578
Plus to this, at the very end there is a link to another thread mentioning instead strange behaviors in PMS and latest QTS, but a possible solution could be restarting the PMS server and the QNAP itself, as one of latest PMS had a major update on its database and its upgrade have caused long delays at its first use.
Go check it out.
In the mean time, I haven't updated QTS to 5.0.0.x and upgraded PMS to latest 1.25 after which I am still unable to retrive my content as it is doing what I think an enormous database refresh.
I'll await a bit more confirmations about QTS 5.0.0.x full compatibility and lack of issues.
