I have a TS-253A and have upgraded the RAM to 16GB as I had some spare laptop SODIMMs.
Is there a way to use some of this RAM as a read/write cache?
I use PrimoCache on my Win10 PC and it has improved disk I/O hugely.
Use RAM as cache on TS-253A?

Re: Use RAM as cache on TS-253A?
write cache would be fatal as RAM is volatile (powerloss), what is the usage case ? The little NAS only has 1GbE so unless you need crazy IOPS , sequential should not benefit from Cache anyways

Re: Use RAM as cache on TS-253A?
Thanks for the reply.
The NAS is on a UPS (obviously). No specific use case other than I have a lot of RAM doing very little and a cache could speed up read and writes. The NAS functions fine with 8GB RAM so I could have a 8GB cache for free which would help reading and writing smaller files especially.
Is it possible? Seems like a bit of an oversight to not have the option of allocating extra RAM to enhance disk I/O.
