How to disable Antivirus ?

Post by chantavu »

Hi there,

Need your help here please.

I just recovered my NAS which I configured Single disk. One of the disks failed. I then formatted the disk and reinstalled the firmware. Everything worked fine until I plugged in the 2nd hard disk. It retrieved the old configuration and now the Antivirus stopped working. It shows the message about the update failure. When I go to the Antivirus page, it asks me to reinstall the firmware with the message below:

Note: To use this function, please upgrade the system firmware with the image file enclosed in the product CD or download the latest system firmware

Now, I want to turn off this Antivirus function as it keeps alerting me that the signature update failed. I tried to search the Antivirus function or the NAS service but I cannot find it. Please advise where to look for the configuration file.

Thank you,

formatting drives will not get rid all the of the partitions, which is why it probably picked up the old firmware/setup.

as to the main AV page. this is built into the firmware image when the firmware is compiled by qnap. configuration of the built in features would be hard to remove.

it would be best to backup you data, to an external disk, a then reinstall the firmware as suggested. then you can disable the the AV program from the AV page.

since you have not given any information on the NAS or the firmware version (not just saying "the latest") then this is all speculative.

Hi Simon,

Thank you for your response.
Yes, it is the latest firmware 4.3.3.2211. The NAS model is TS-212P.
Any chance to access the configuration file ? So I can manually edit it ?

I do not know what file controls the AV pages. sorry.

I would guess if the AV page is corrupt there would be more corrupt files than just that one. you cannot rule out other features are broken unless you reinstall a fresh firmware image.
