Hi All,
On my QNAP NAS TS-451 (QTS 4.2.0), I have a Brother printer connected via USB.
The printer service name was created automatically. I don't like the name, as I want the printer to appear in the network as something more mnemonic, but I cannot see any way of changing it.
I tried modifying /etc/config/cups/printers.cong and restarting cupsd, and even restarting the NAS, but it did not help. The only effect was another <Printer></Printer> section with the automatic name created in printers.conf.
Is there any way to change the printer service name?
Thanks.
How to change USB printer Service Name?

Re: How to change USB printer Service Name?
Hi Maverick-X.
I too have this problem and would like to be able to set a friendly name instead of NASPR1, NASPR2, etc.
Did you ever find a way to do this?
I have only ever tried to set a name in the USB printer preferences, but it does not change the share name.

Re: How to change USB printer Service Name?
The same issue here, with couple of printers in the office is very difficult to manage. Currently this is not possible to change but what for is the 'service name' input bar. I posted a help ticket on this to QNAP.
