Batch auto-configuration

Post by Bostjanlaba »

Hi, I have to configure 40 NAS units. They are all the same, same hardware. Configuration /setup is almost the same for all units except for some IP addresses etc.

Is there a way that I could have a configuration script made to just push it to every NAS I connect?

Like this: I would connect a new NAS unit. Then I would edit my configuration file with changes (different IP, diferrent password etc). Then I would send this configuration to NAS and NAS would be fully configured.

My configuration script would do something like this:
-upgrade firmware
-set nas name to NASxxx
- enable port trunking/active backup
- change IP of trunked adapter to x.x.x.x
- add user 1,password 1,new group 1
- add user 2, password 2
-enable SNMP service with some params
-enable FTP service with some params
....etc

Is that possible? Manually programming 40 units where 95% of the job is the same is a pain :/

Thanks

Bostjan
