open Ports - Securing QNAP

Post by j2019d »

Hi :)

even tough i choosed "only use https", the ports 80, 8081, 8080 are open. port 631 (rpinter service?) too. did not found a way to close it.

Every unused port is a (possible) security lack...

thanks for any hint!

correct, but the qnap is running in a medium risk environment & open/free wlan, so i try to close everything not necessary.

an open wifi should be fenced off in a vlan or segregated subnet (some routers even have guest wifi with lan block)

otherwise https is as vulnerable as http

it's only securing the connection from eavesdropping ..nothing else

hi & thanks for your answers! ..... unfortunately, this plot has to be in this way. so i will try find a way to close all not necessary ports. (nevertheless i take all actions to secure this device by the known tasks...)
