@serhans:
I know this thread is already a couple of months old, but do you perhaps still have the full image for the TS-473? I tried to write you a PM, but it seems newly registered user somehow can't do that. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I DD’d the original dom once I got the unit back from Qnap. The image size is 492mb, let me know what is the best way to send it to you.

Thanks for replying so quickly! You could upload it to my OwnCloud, that would be the fastest way, I'd imagine.

Looks good, thanks a bunch! I don't know when I'll have the chance to test it, but I'll post a feedback in this thread.

Re: QNAP TS-473 firmware recovery problem
Good luck, I restored mine with a linux live cd and used DD to write this on the DOM. There was a detailed tutorial here for all steps.

Re: QNAP TS-473 firmware recovery problem
I am trying to follow this guide here https://wiki.qnap.com/wiki/Firmware_Recovery but something doesn't seems right here. It said to load the Clonezilla bootable usb and choose Clonezilla live (Serial Console) option for our nas that don't have a graphic output. I attached a screenshot below.
But this option doesn't exists in boot menu of Clonezilla
The options are the following
serhans what linux live cd did you use?
EDIT: All linux images i tried to boot from, give me the messages
"error: no suitable video mode found.
Booting in blind mode"
I am thinking that i had to install a PCIe graphic card in order to proceed, do you have any idea?
EDIT 2: SUCCESS!! I loaded CloneZilla image again and searching a bit, i realise that the grub is loaded when UEFI is chosen. The qnap team has added the Clonezilla live (Serial Console) only in syslinux.cfg where this is loaded only when MBR machine is present. More details are here https://clonezilla.org/fine-print-live- ... meters.doc in 2 and 4 bullets. So, i made a copy paste from syslinux.cfg to grub.cfg and i managed get into nas from clonezilla.
There i gave these commands
And this is it!
Thank you very very much for your help with img serhans. You are a lifesaver

cd /lib/live/mount/medium/
cp dom.img /dev/sdb <-- it depends in each case. fdisk -l should be used to be sure for the disk
reboot

Re: QNAP TS-473 firmware recovery problem
I am glad to see that it worked.I wasn’t able to figure out how to do this with clonezilla, so I installed a gpu to my unit to be able run the linux live cd. Your method is much more practical, thanks for sharing!
