Setting failed login Notification for 2nd Admin

Post by paurray »

Hello

I am trying to tighten the security on my QNAP. Sorry if this is in the wrong section!

the first step I am taking is to set up an alternative admin.
a) set up alternative admin with “name other than admin.”
b) disable the out of the box “admin” with the name “admin."

the 2nd step I am taking is setting up notifications to tell me if there is a failed login.
a) I have the notifications working can send the test email.
b) I have the notifications working where “admin” fails to login.
c) I can not get the notifications to work when admin with “name other than admin” fails to login.
d) I can see in the System Access Log that “admin” and “name other than admin” have failed to login.
(I am logging in incorrectly to try and simulate the scenario of failed login.)

1) In the notifications centre in the “System notifications Rules” section I have set up a rule called “Failed Login”
2) And in the error section added the following lines:

[Users] Failed to log in via user account “admin”.
[Users] Failed to log in via user account “name other than admin”.

the first appears to work as in I get an email

NAS Name:****
Severity: Error
Date/Time: 2021/05/03 08:33:39

App Name: Users
Category: Login
Message: [Users] Failed to log in via user account "admin". Source IP address: ****

Can someone kindly point me in the right direction?

thanks

Paul

hi, hi
Any help on this would be gratefully appreciated.
I know that I am missing something right in front of my me.
Maybe someone could point me in the right direction, how to set up a rule that notifies if user abc logins or fails to login.
