Why is the QNAP shutting down when transferring from NAS to External hardrive?

Post by foresight »

I have had a problem with my QNAP shutting down when I attempt to copy and paste from the QNAP over to my Seagate 4tb external hardrive. The QNAP allowed me to transfer the file locally to my C: drive however when I tried to transfer the local C: drive copy over to the seagate, it shut the QNAP down again? The sound coming out of the QNAP was quite harsh (spin and stop sharply) is this a normal sound?

The solution to get my footage was to eject the NAS completely to allow the C: drive transfer to take place?

Could this be anything to do with the raid config as also noticed when deleting file from the QNAP, it doesn't appear to free up space until we delete from trash.

Novice user, any advice welcome.
