I have a TS-653D NAS. I placed 4 HDDs in it and configured it in RAID 5. I want to add a 5th HDD (there are 6 bays in the NAS) to be a replacement for any of my RAID HDDs that my die. I would like this to happen automatically incase I am not around to physically add and configure the replacement HDD.
First, is this possible?
Second, how do I configure the 5th HDD so this will happen if one of my current HDDs die?
Thanks in advance for anyone's help!
How to add and configure 5th HDD in NAS in standby mode incase one of my RAID drives crashes?

As an addendum to my question: I want to make the 5th HDD a "hot spare" drive.

Instead of a hotspare, convert the NAS to RAID6 with dual parity.

That is also possible. But still would like to know how to set up a "hot spare".
