TR-004: how to enable standby mode?

Post by Lotus33 »

I am a new owner of QNAP TR-004. Running in software controlled as ext. hard drives connected to my PC. The unit is very annoyingly noisy, humming & reverberating constantly & it's sitting right next to me on my desk in the only spot it can go. I am wondering how/where there are any settings to enable it to go into a standby mode after a certain amount of time when not in use? Hoping maybe that will help with the noise & also extend life. I already have the unit on a foam pad to reduce vibration. I don't see any settings for a standby mode time in the External Raid Manager software. Please help. Thanks.

I don't think there are any... The default automated sleep timeout is 30 secs and I haven't been able to find a way to change it. Certainly there's no manual way to trigger the sleep mode.

An annoying thing is that the unit keeps waking up even though not used. Seems like any internal operation causes it.
