Disks activity statistics

Post by ultradj83 »

Dears,
how to check the amount of time disks have been spinning maybe in the latest month?
They're set to spin down after 10 minutes of inactivity, but I could find no records about.
I need to estimate power consumption in order to check if to spend a lot of money to replace everything with SSD or not.

Regards

As far as I know, you'll find the PowerOnHours in Smart. Not sure if there are any statistics per se.

Disk spindown is a lost cause .. the NAS is constantly writing stuff to disk

Put a powermeter on it and check your usage .. but unless your power cost are outrageous, I doubt you will compensate for the extra costs (SSD vs HDD in cost per storage) in any meaningful time
