QNAP you need to fix the constant activity / self spin up issue!!! seriously!!!

Post by AstroZY »

We are fighting with this issue for years and spend days every few month trying to solve the probelm!!!

We have few TS-832X, System on SSD, plus 8 HDD per unit installed after system build complete on SSD, as data warehouse, most of the data on them won't be accessed for month but we need to keep them accessable online whenever we need them.

Our team member even learnd linux commands just for solving this single issue as photographer or project manageer, and even clean up a dedicated unit transfer away over 50TB of data for trying different sort of solutions and commands......

We don't need any "Funcations" besides store data and keep them accessable!!!

No HDD data access for month, no HDD spin up for month.

Sound alarm if bad drive detected will be more than enough

Please give us a BUTTON to archive this!!!!!

And don't tell us to disable Samba & Qsync & QNAPCloud, we need them, it is the "Access" part, we have SSD for them to screw with.

This is a user forum, QNAP does not come here .. no need to complain about it here

And if you need and run QNAPcloud, your problems will be much more severe than spinning disks (malware)

No sarcasm at all.. this is a community forum, there is no QNAP team here to check for user requests

If you want to reach and complain to QNAP, open a ticket

And I personally know a photographer that spend 0.05BTC to these criminals in ransom, because he thought QNAP would be a great way to share files with clients (Spoiler:it wasn't, he also never asked me beforehand, only after it was too late)
