Incompatible UPS?
I am using a Belkin Universal UPS 800VA. So far I have been unable to get the NAT to recognise the UPS.
Will there be a update with the NAT software to make this compatible?

My TS209Pro recognizes, accepts and communicates with my APC Back-UPS XS 1200 perfertly so far.
No power failures yet to test the auto-shutdown setting but the NAS does seem to be happy with my APC UPS model

any update on the UPS list?
unless I missed something there is only 1 ups on the list for the ts-109. As this device is made to run 24/7, UPS support is critical. any update to the list? I want to make sure that the 109 will shut down nicely with a UPS when the power goes out

Re: any update on the UPS list?
I too am most interested in UPS support. My investigations seemed to indicate that expanded support could be possible (perhaps evan easy) via the NUT UPS driver package, which appears already (at least partially) installed. The NUT package supports several drivers for various UPS manufacturers, including my Belkin, MGE and others.fnp07 wrote:UPS support is critical. any update to the list?
Instead of a broader NUT driver being used, however, QNAP is using an APC specific driver. Being new to Linux, I have not satisfied myself that I understand well enough how it all works to start tinkering with it.
My earlier call here for expanded UPS support seemed to fall on rather deaf ears, leading me to suspect that QNAP have UPS support way down on their current list of priorities. For me, it's important that the server has UPS management for various reasons, and the current issue with some users losing their hard-drives on power loss would seem to make it almost imperative at the moment.

Tested APC Back-UPS CS 350 USB
I just got this one: http://www.apc.com/resource/include/tec ... _watts=200
Attached to my QNap-109 using USB, it works great.
I cut the power to the UPS, and waited for 1 minute (as set up in the QNap) and the qnap shut down properly. When re-connecting the power within one minute, the qnap cancels the shutdown properly.
I can see status of battery and power on the qnap setup page, and it reports the correct model of UPS.
Only minor problem is that I have got "USB UPS auto detect failed!" errors in the log. It seems to be a problem when rebooting the QNAP. There seems to be some kind of delay when starting up the qnap before it is able to probe the UPS.. Maybe the USB drivers are not loaded before the UPS is probed the first time? Just guessing...

Is it me, or is the list of supported UPS's very short?
I'm just seeing one UPS listed, and it's a low 500W unit.

I have installed an APC BE700-GR unit.
Taken the following installation process,
1. Shutdown the TS109
2. Put the power plug into the UPS
3. Connected the USB signalling cable
4. Started the TS109
5. Activated the UPS support - the UPS was not recognized by the TS109 - testing by using the TEST button had shown no UPS connected.
nevertheless
6. First power fail test: disconnecting power and reconnecting before start of shutdown > passed, entry in the event log
7. Second power fail test: TS109 was shutting down after configured time period.
after restart two things had occured:
1. The UPS is listed as ES700 and the status is displayed (o.k. so far)
2. The event log is not displayed anymore (strange). The count increases, but I cannot see the table with the entries.
Any idea how to pull down the table again?
I had installed the UPS under the FW 1.1.3, but there is still no event log after the update.

Re: UPS Compatibility List
Spotted this topic this evening.
I am happy to confirm that an APC SMART UPS 1500 works fine via USB to a TS109 Pro running Firmware 1.1.4 Build 1207T.
I've made a couple of comments about the UPS support (which is important to me) in another thread as I think there is room for improvement. Hopefully some of these ideas can be looked at and potentially incorporated in the next major firmware upgrade.
Many thanks

The UPS compatibility list is verified by the QNAP Quality Assurance Dept and is updated from time to time without notice.
You are welcome to share your UPS information with us. Please reply to this topic with the UPS model number and the QNAP product you are using.
USB connection
After some tinkering with the UPS support enable/disable checkbox on NAS administration page, UPS recognized properly by the NAS. I set the shutdown timer to 5min.
1) I tested power loss which lasted less than 5min, the NAS recognized and reported the loss and recovery of power properly - no shutdown.
2) I tested power loss which lasted longer than 5min, the NAS recognized and reported the loss of power followed by clean shutdown.
Neat! Highly recommended to avoid unmounted disk issues in the event of power loss - I understand this only happens if you have Slimserver installed, which I have.
