Q-Raid continuous updates

Post by davewhughes »

I want to leave my Q-Raid disk connected to my QNAP TS-109 permanently on so I don't have to worry about it. It is not clear to me whether it is syncing continuously and that it is keeping a true mirror of my QNAP disk. The Q-Raid free space does not seem to be changing even though I am adding content to the QNAP disk. This seems to indicate that it is not keeping up to date.

I do not want to keep switching it on and off, just to get it synced. This somewhat defeats the object of a background mirror that is always up to date.

I am I right in assuming that this is not behaving as expected or is there an option that needs to be set?

Not sure if you're using NFS, but if you are, then you should read about a bug concerning NFS and Q-RAID1:

I reverted to using SAMBA/CIFS and have seen automatic syncing occurring as expected. As you make changes to data on your NAS internal drive, you should see rsync processes kick off to sync up external drive.
