I too vote in favor of adding SqueezeCenter to the QNAP firmware.

Hi Hopscotch, thanks for the news, I'll give a look at the latest SSOTS version.Hopscotch wrote:Lucas72 - I think the disk spin down issue is resolved. I run the latest version of SSOTS and SqueezeCenter on my 109Pro, and it spins down nicely on standby with logging disabled.lucas72 wrote:Include SC7 is ok for me too, but only with the resolved issue for disk/s goes to standby...
I would still prefer to see SqueezeCenter support as standard on the Qnap though.
BTW if the logging must be disabled on TS-x09 for the disks to go in stand-by with SC7 installed, well it doesn't look the problem is still really resolved.... I do want logging enabled, who don't?!

Re: normal Slimserver support [SqueezeCenter7 is up for testin!]
Hi QNAP guys,
Yep, I'm using my TS-Raid as a backup server and am very content with that decision.
Now I'm thinking about getting another NAS hosting and serving my music collection with SC7. Should I buy i.e. a ReadyNAS for easyly getting installed Slimserver?
I'd like the idea to spend my money for another QNAP-NAS if - and only if !!! there is definitely an easy install option for it.
Hope you'll help me soon,
Kurt

Count med in. A standardised way of implementing SC7 on my TS-109 Pro would be great for me, my friends and for QNAP sales.

So far, Andy's dodging the question. I'm hoping it's because their are trying to determine it internally in the organization, but it's really hard to wait this long.Drongo wrote:Whats the latest news on the one button install for SC7 or whether its going to be included in firmware to make it easy for linux numskulls.

I am looking to purchase a Qnap ts 109 Pro II and my music streamer of choice will be Squeezebox Duet. I would definitely want native compatibility with the Slimserver, instead of trying to hack it in.
Thanks

Re: normal Slimserver support [SqueezeCenter7 is up for testin!]
Guy, you won the battle. We've just confirmed that QNAP will make Squeeze Center 7 pre-installed in the standard firmware in our next release in a week or two, stay tuned. (Note, that users who don't need this feature has an option to uninstall it as well)
More goodies...
AlienBBC will be included as well, however it's still experimental and will not run as smooth in TS-109/209 than in TS-409 (provided the FPU support)
Also, we will implement mr_hyde's 'Adding an USB memeory stick for swap memeory to prevent hard disk waking up issue from standby. Thanks man!

Re: normal Slimserver support [SqueezeCenter7 is up for testin!]
Great news!!
Just a few questions though?
What will happen to those of us who have already install flipflips install etc. Will a firmware update overwrite our install and work correctly?
Will we need to choose th option to not install and carry on as we were?
Will we need to uninstall SSODS and SQ7 and then install the firmware update?
BTW running it on a TS109

Hi Andy
when you say "will not run as smooth in TS-109/209" could you be a little more specific? Is it going to be usable? Will it get better in the future?
Many thanks

Hi
This is excellent news; now I can buy the Squeezebox Duet
I've been a bit worried about trying to install it via the workarounds out there
Thanks a million
Cheers
