Unable to connect to MyQNAOcloud service

Post by tyagisk »

I have QNAP TS420 Firware 4.0.2 Window 7 32bit
When I try to connect to QNAP myQNAPcloud Connect 1.1.0 I get the following answer:
"the connection cannot be established. Please make sure you have internet connection and the PPTP VPN server on the NAS is enabled"

In the control Pannel of VPN Server, I have following settings:
PPTP Settings:
Enable PPTP VPN Server (is clicked on)
VPN Client IP Pool : 10.0.0.2-10.0.0.254

Enable Open VPN Server (is clicked on)
Now, here in RED color I have the follwoing message:
The "OPEN VPN Settings" has been changed, please download the confirgruation fileand update the OpnVPN client.

If I have tried to download the file and upload it but no success. If this is a problem, can some one please let me know the step by step guidline to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance

Testing from the same LAN where the NAS is located, or from a different Internet connection? Majority of consumer CPE don't support the so-called NAT loopback - this prohibits establish any connection LAN->public-router-IP->NAS.

Thanks for your reply.
I have checked with both-same LAN where NAS is located and from a different internet connection. Both has been un-successful...

Check your "MyCloudNAS" configuration using the CanYouSeeMe.org - Open Port Check Tool.

Check ports 80/TCP, 443/TCP, 1723/TCP, 8080/TCP, & 8081/TCP to ensure they are "open".

I checked and got the following results:

MY ISP is NOT bloking the Port 80
Here is the setting page:

Please provide the [Diagnostics] output - just from button above your last screen shoot please (XXX the public IP address) - to check if the Automatic Router Configuration succeeded.

Instead of using the myQNAPcloud Connect for testing (this is creating a VPN connection), please also check from a browser

So all those ports showed as "open" when you verified them using the CanYouSeeMe tool as I recommeneded? Were they all "open"?
Is GRE (Generic Routing Encapsulation) (aka IP Protocol 47) enabled in the unidentified Router? (This is a requirement for PPTP to work).

You keep focusing on the QNAP myQNAPcloud Connect 1.1.0 I tool, but you aren't being forthcoming with information testing the PPTP configuration. Have you tried upgrading to the myQNAPcloud Connect for Windows v1.1.2.Build0717 instead.

Are you trying this from "outside" your network?
(It is unlikely to work from "inside" your network unless your unidentified Router supports NAT-Loopback, (which most consumer Routers don't)).

Anyway, getting you to provide troubleshooting information is too much work. Please contact QNAP Customer Service for further assistance.

Hello Partick,
I have tried to upgrade to the http://download.qnap.com/Storage/Utilit ... 2.0717.exe myQNAPcloud Connect for Windows v1.1.2.Build0717 and when tried to connect I am still getting the following message:
"the connection cannot be established. Please make sure you have internet connection and the PPTP VPN server on the NAS is enabled"

All ports are shown open except Protocol 47. I have sky broadband connection and router provided by Sky is Sagemcom. Any idea how to open the port 47? I am sorry, my knowledege is very limited when it comes to networking. But, I am admit, I am keen to learn and I am learning...while staying in this form..
