SS 5.1 proposes "QVR Client for linux"

Post by Olivierr »

Dear all,

I am configuring my cameras on my newly updated TS-412 to QTS 4.2 and SS 5.1.0.2. I am using chromium and firefox under linux 64bits. When clicking the "Monitor" button, I get this message popup : (sorry, I can't copy paste, text is not selectable)
To use the NVR with linux, please configure cameras with Google Chrome or Firefox 32bit first. To see live view and play recordings, please install the utility "QVR Client for linux"
It's the first time I read about a QVR desktop client for linux, and I am a little surprised. I can't find any reference to it, and qnapsecurity website doesn't help. If I manualy install 32bit browsers on my 64bit install, however, this message is still the same, nothing changes.

Has anyone seen this already ? Is there a "QVR Client for linux" somewhere that I missed?

Kind regards,

Olivier

I am not aware of any "QVR Client for linux". Have you asked the Helpdesk?

Not yet, but it seemed so visible that I thought someone here would have seen something about it...
Will definitely open a ticket tomorrow.
Thanks for your reply and good evening.

This is the reply I got. Non comittal and unhelpful.
Dear Olivier ,

sorry for the late reply .
our PM is now in vacation and will be back on next Monday . I will confirm a QVR client for Linux on next Monday again and give you a reply .

as my experience , we have QVR client for Windows and MAC , but have not never heard a client for Linux .

we suggest to use Windows OS ( Windows Vista , 7,8,8.1) and QVR client for Windows for normal operation . Thank you
Best regards
Jacky
Of course, no, Whindows is not an option. I lived without live view for the last 2 years so I guess that's not "bad" per se but, the popup message given by SS 5.1.0.2 is giving me reason to believe there is something to look for here.

I spent around 2000 euros for my NAS, discs, Cameras, licence, cabling and infrastructure, just to fell hard on a wall...!!! :x :x :x :x
You do have a client for Windows, which is one of the most unreliable and unsecure OSes out there, but there is none for Linux, which is used mostly in professional installations and data centers.

Totally unacceptable, I am really disappointed with QNAP.

there is none for Linux,
Oh yes there is.
I use it on Linux Mint (based on Ubuntu).
It works quite well.

TS-431+ for storage and media and a bunch of IP cams under Surveillance Station. TVS-473 as files backup and QVR Pro.

I suppose you are referring to "QVR Pro client".
The brand new TS-431X I got, is not supported from the QVR application, and I have to use the old Surveillance Station, which does not have a Linux client.
On top of that, Vmobile on my iPhone, is broken. You can select a camera, but after that, it keeps connecting forever!

Yes, I was.
I'd assumed from the price you quoted for your NAS etc that it would be QVR Pro as opposed to the old SS app on an Arm box.
