QSync app icon not appearing OS X

Post by AceSymmetric »

Have been using QSync for a couple fof years, syncing files across 2 Macs and a PC.

I have both Macs on latest version of OS X (El Capitan).

Since moving both Macs on to the latest version of the QSync app (2.0.0.1405) both have stopped working properly. I no longer get any icon in the status bar at the top of the screen, even though the QSync client process is running in Activity Monitor.

It's like the app has partially loaded but is not properly functioning. It's very bizarre that this should happen on two seperate machines. The PC version still seems to be working OK, which makes me discount network issues, NAS issues (TS 219P+) (firmware version 4.2.0).

Can anyone give me any pointers as to what this problem might be and how to troubleshoot it? Many thanks.

As soon as I revert back to the last version of the client (1.4.0.1019) both machines immediately begin syncing again and the app icons and respective menus appear as I would expect, in the status bar.

The only conclusion I can safely draw is that there is a bug in the code of the latest version. Looking at the QSync centre logs for device connections, it seems that my Macs both stopped syncing when the new versions of the clients were installed.

What is strange to me, is that I don't see any evidence that anyone else has experienced this problem....

I know this doesn't help you sort out your issue, but for info I have QSync 2.0.0.1405 running without issue on a Macbook Air running OS X 10.11.3 and an iMac running the latest public beta version (Beta 7) of OS X 10.11.4.
Model: TS-453A -- RAM: 16G -- FW: QTS 4.3.6.0883 Build 20190316.

Almost the same problem here. I am using a QNAP TS-231, latest version(2.0.0.1405) of QSync for mac os x, QSync icon disappeared after launching QSync client from Application list of finder and the sync not work(I think this version of QSync automatically quits just after launching). The sync works well in a windows 10 laptop.

Latest mac client doesn't work for me either. Downloading the old version from us1.qnap.com/Storage/Utility/QNAPQsyncClientMac-1.4.0.1019.dmg works for me.

Same problem for me... QSYNC for Mac 2.0.0.1405 is not launching properly on my MacBook Pro with OS-X 10.11.4. If I revert to 1.4.0.1019, everything works just fine.

I'd like a new Mac QSYNC Client that allows me to sync with folders on the NAS other than only the QSYNC folder.

saw this issue the past days. It was fixed when completely uninstall 1.4.x with "AppCleaner" and then do a fresh and clean install of 2.x
TS-251 - QTS 4.3.3.0210 build 20170606

Oh wow. This thread has just solved my problem with QSynch on OSX. I installed and configured it and it seems to be doing something. But I couldn't work out how I could access it to check or change the settings. I can see it in Applications and it is there busy in Activity Monitor. Just not there in the Dock. Can't see it anywhere on either of my 2 screens. I read the tutorials and they just say "Launch Qsync and then select ....". But Where Is It?????

This thread tells me it appears in the Status bar. As Qfinder Pro appears in the Dock, it never occurred to me that a companion utility would only appear in the Status bar. Thats just not intuitive at all :-(
