I have a Virtualization Station 3.0 (latest version) running on a TS-463U-RP. Runs a bit slow. I was wondering if there are a set of equivalent "tools" for the QNAP, as they are for VMWare solutions, meant to significantly improve interface performance.
Thank you in advance

No one seems to know whether the latest Fedora drivers work with Qnap or whether the qnap drivers, which are several years old, include some special sauce that the new Fedora drivers don't have.

Re: Equivalent of VMWare Tools
Latest versions work just fine with VS 3.x. The ONLY exception is the QXL driver. Use the one included with the Guest Tools in VS. All other drivers you can upgrade with the latest VirtIO drivers.Godrick wrote:No one seems to know whether the latest Fedora drivers work with Qnap or whether the qnap drivers, which are several years old, include some special sauce that the new Fedora drivers don't have.

Thanks. Are there any noticeable advantages to doing this? Should I use latest or stable?

Re: Equivalent of VMWare Tools
I typically use the latest. For some things like win10/2016 I don't think you have a choice. Not sure you will see huge perf differences, but check the change logs for differences/fixes.Godrick wrote:Thanks. Are there any noticeable advantages to doing this? Should I use latest or stable?

Re: Equivalent of VMWare Tools
OK. Thanks. I was just asking as the version of QEMU that VS3 uses is a couple of years old. The older drivers seem to work OK with the new OSs (other than Guest Agent, which doesn't seem to do anything).
