VM image folder filling up with very large files

Hi the folder where I keep my VM on the QNAP is filling up each day with large files - what are these? do I need them, I don't have a VM backup setup, I use Rsync to off-site the VM folder

TVS-871U-RP i5, 32GB RAM, 8 X 2TB WD RED, 2 X 128GB mSATA latest firmware

Did you enable/take a VM Snapshot?

my mistake, the backup was still set, these are snapshots created by the VM Station backup tool.
