I got the TS-653B and apparently, the 3 out of 4 screw holder arches on the cover broke off with me being careful. I just wanted to open the enclosure to install Intel X540-T2 card.
The screw holders are thin plastic and break off. I can't believe no one discovered this in R&D

Already did but the ticket area does not even have options to select for built quality issues.

If you just got it send it back to where you purchased it and get a replacement.
Use the forum search feature before posting.
Use RAID and external backups. RAID will protect you from disk failure, keep your system running, and data accessible while the disk is replaced, and the RAID rebuilt. Backups will allow you to recover data that is lost or corrupted, or from system failure. One does not replace the other.

Early manufacturing lot has received covers with a not ideal material mix - different from the pre-production samples btw. Get in touch with the QNAP Customer Service for a replacement cover.

Re: TS-653B Pathetic Build quality
in this video seeing how they handled it seems fine. could be like schumy said about the why. newer crop shouldn't be an issue but that front cover looks like a plastic part so i would suggest not to accidentally drop it either

Re: TS-653B Pathetic Build quality
I purchased it in Canada. Now I am in India. I contacted QNAP and they are asking me to RMA the whole NAS. That’s highly unlikely. They could have just shipped me a “back cover” for my 653B from a good batch and be done with it.schumaku wrote:Early manufacturing lot has received covers with a not ideal material mix - different from the pre-production samples btw. It's a standard RMA process. Usually no spare parts are sent-out for user self-service. Talk to them about special handling wishes - the community can't help.sanke1 wrote:I contacted QNAP and they are asking me to RMA the whole NAS.
