Stream from NAS in a browser

Post by Puggyx »

Hi,

I made some search but didn"t find what i want.

I have a QNAP TS-231P. I manage to activate DNLA server, etc .... but is there a way to open a browser on a pc, connect to my NAS and watch a movie stored on it in the browser ? Like it does in youtube or when you put a video file in google drive, it displays the movie in a internal web reader

I thought video station can handle this but it asks me to open VLC .....

Thanks

did you try using plex ? they have an inbuilt video player :)

by the way are you doing this over your lan network?

did you consider just adding a shortcut to your NAS, then browse the share, open the video file then playback on your Desktop using MPC-HC ?
https://www.videohelp.com/software/LAV-Filters-Megamix

To create a shortcut on your windows 10 desktop, right click, create shortcut, then use this

Code: Select all

\\your lan ip here OR your NAS name

I thought Plex was to index my movie collection only ... I'm install it

I want to watch over the network, not only in my local one

The goal is to watch movie in browser without any application on pc like does in youtube or gdrive

yes it does that too, but it also has a video player as well :)

are you trying to connect to the QNAP over the internet from remote location, on your home network is what i meant :) Cause if it's the later, just using smb to browse to share then open playback using your own video player of choice will get the job done.

vlc is u streaming using link. Plex media player may work too if you login to the plex app browse from there and open a video perhaps.
