Is it safe

Post by gwen4 »

We've set up a server and put it on myQNAPcloud through the app called Cloudlink.

The server was configured so it can be accessed by HTTPS only. For this, a proper SSL certificate was installed.

Is it safe then to transmit/retrieve confidential business documents through the cloud using myQNAPcloud / Cloudlink?

That is not the answer we expected!

Thank you for the honesty. I wonder if that is also QNAP's official position.

those units are mainly consumer nas with tons of little nick nack addons that manufacturers cram into it (no matter if qnap or others)

they are not intended to be high security web hosting machines...

check how many devices were hacked since the beginning of the year (forum search) ...all it takes is one 0day and the whole machine is taken over (webservices and all your business files)

for corporate security, that is unacceptable

for an internal file server, the qnap is just fine...as I said before..run your file exchange and webhosting on a different machine

So there is no way to securely host and access data on a QNAP device? Looks like a great opportunity to a developer.
