TS-419U+ increase disk size

Post by skidvd »

Hi,

I have a TS-419U+ with a RAID 6 array. I would like to increase the overall capacity of the device/array without losing the data. I have a few basic questions:

- What is the maximum supported size for disk drives with the TS-419U+
- What is the process to do a 'rolling' upgrade of disk drives (one at a time) in order to be able to increase the overall size of the array?
- Will all network and share services be offline during that upgrade process
- How long would you expect the process to take with 4 drives, RAID 6, 3TB array presently ... ideally going to as large as possible

TIA!

Remarkably up to 10TB are supported!
Services will stay online.
Replace one drive at a time and wait for the system to rebuild before replacing the next one.
When the last one is replaced and the RAID rebuilt you will be able to expand the volume.
Follow the manual, check the compat list, it's easy!

with an old cat1 device maximum volume size of 16TB .. so 4x8TB cannot be exceeded (RAID6)

4x10TB would not work

Can the physical memory be increased in this box? Or the swap space?

physical memory is fixed ...why would you need more swap?

no idea how memory hungry duplicacy is .. did you try to disable any non essential services on the NAS ? (stations, DLNA,etc)

It is rather memory hungry presently. No way around that presently, so hence the question to increase swap?
