Mac tagged color highlights are not retained when syncing

Post by rhap4boy »

When using Hybrid Backup to Sync folders from QNAP to another QNAP, Files and folders that were tagged with color highlights using Mac does up show up on the synced volume. The files and folders itself shows up but not the tagged coloring.
What is the correct way to sync folders and volumes so that files and folders with tagged color highlights properties are synced over as well?

Please take care of proofreading your posts, because you wrote the opposite of what you meant

up/not?

About your problem, look into the sync job options (or advanced settings, I don't know exactly what they're called in the UI), and verify that the option to copy extended attributes is enabled.

Thank you for the correction! Yes, I meant not.

That seems to fix the issue. Thank you!

Preserving extended attributes is very important when backing up or syncing Mac files, because the OS and some applications store useful information (called "metadata") in them. Finder colors, but also tags in general for Spotlight searching, Spotlight comments, text encoding, and application-specific information...
