Default settings always when logging to NAS [TS-228 / 4.3.4.0695]

Post by przemnet »

Hi,

It looks that after recent update to 4.3.4.0695 firmware (or maybe it's a coincidence, but I'm not sure) I have problems with logging to my TS-228 NAS via web (https).

I have standard admin user and another one is created in my system as well.
Whenever I login with each of the users, I am asked to accept "Data & Privacy" regulations and icons layout is reset to default and initial screen is displayed showing that in top left corner there is Main Menu etc.

QNAPdefault.png
Due to above, logging to my QNAS is very very long and it's very frustrating.

I am uisng Firefox with setting not to remember history so cookies are not stored on my PC.
I thought that it might be the reason, but after I changed setting to save the history, problem is the same...

NAS restart doesn't help...

Did anyone had similar issue?

How to solve it?

Thanks in advance and Best Regards,
Przemek

How did you install the firmware update? It is possible something went wrong.

Have you tried to do a manual install with the same firmware? https://wiki.qnap.com/wiki/Manually_Updating_Firmware

Hi,

I did upgrade the same way I always was doing it- QTS -> System settings -> Firmware Update.

In the system logs I can see that upgrade was succesfull:

Code: Select all

Type	Date	Time	Users	Source IP	Computer name	Content
Information	2018/09/07	18:45:54	System	127.0.0.1	localhost	[Firmware Update] System updated successfully from 4.3.4(20180810) to 4.3.4(20180830).
I will try to manually install firmware and if does not help, next I will perform the downgrade, however at the moment media files indexing is ongoing and I need to wait till it's finished.

In the meantime, does anyone know how QTS determines that it should reset settings to default and ask for "Data & Privacy" acceptance for the user?

Maybe I just need to edit some file and problem will be gone...

Thanks in advance and Best Regards,

Still the same behaviour with Firmware 4.3.4.0705 on TS-228. But only as User admin , other users work now. Can somebody reproduce this bug?

the Helpdesk App on your NAS will also allow you to create Tickets with QNAP directly and allows to upload logfiles automatically for them to look at so they can diagnose any issues.

Hi,

An update from my side: it looks that upgrade to 4.3.4.0705 actually solves the problem in my case.

Right after upgrade, I logged in to NAS with admin and other users and I had to accept the regulations etc. so I assumed that problem is still not solved.
However now, when I logged in again because I wanted to gather more info to open ticket to QNAP it turns out that I don't have to accept anything and icons layout is not reset.

So it looks that problem was present only during first login attempt after upgrade to 4.3.4.0705. Next login attempts work fine for admin and other users.

Thanks in advance and Best Regards,
Przemek
