Users can not reach shared folders anymore - TC-EC879U-RP
Hi,
There are a few hundred local users on our TC-EC879U-RP with firmware 4.3.5.0728 (2018/10/13) reaching to the 80+ shared folders (20+TB) using their own permissions. This setup has been working successfully for a few year.
This morning, all the users lost drive mappings on their Windows 7/10 machines. Everyone is allowed to access their files and folders through web interface, but no one except the admin can access the related folders through drive mappings. They receive "Access Denied" error message.
The Samba version is below
[/etc/config] # smb2status
smbd (samba daemon) Version 4.4.16
smbd (samba daemon) is running.
max protocol SMB 3 enabled.
Any help is highly appreciated.
Regards.

domain joined?
If so, there is a couple of threads of people reporting domain auth loss on current firmwares

Did you check permissions? Where they any changes made?
Use the forum search feature before posting.
Use RAID and external backups. RAID will protect you from disk failure, keep your system running, and data accessible while the disk is replaced, and the RAID rebuilt. Backups will allow you to recover data that is lost or corrupted, or from system failure. One does not replace the other.

Yes,
The user accounts have been created and being managed manually. The permissions are all correct. We are sure about the permissions, because users are able to login using web interface and access the files/folders as usual. It seems to be only the Samba service which is causing problem.
We have tried restoring a week old "smb.conf", "smbpassw", and "smbusers" configuration files from the backup (/share/MD0_DATA/.@backup_config) folder, but nothing changed.

To me this sounds like ports are blocked.
Webdav works over different port to SMB. It's doesn't sound like SMB is broken.
Can you make a direct connection to the box with a PC laptop (169.254.100.100 address) without antivirus and see what happens attaching with a local user?
In my view copying SMB configs about was premature and dangerous and may have complicated resolution.

Unfortunately, the result did not change.
We have checked, and all the related ports of the NAS are up and responding.

Most of the mentioned issues are the one we have already covered. I even reinstalled Samba this time, but nothing changed.

So creating new mapping doesn't work?
Connecting on IP rather than hostname doesn't work?
And this?
https://www.qnap.com/en/how-to/faq/arti ... s-problem/
I guess it's time to raise a ticket
Very odd

And my ticket created on 8 November 2018 is still waiting attention.
