possible to have 2 RTRR or Rsync users?

Post by aarbee »

I have setup a RTRR backup to my second qnap.
I would like to have another RTRR connection, so that I receive documents from my customers Qnap. (We occasionally send some documentation over and vice-versa).
And would not like to use the same RTRR user I am using with my regular/personal backup.
And I asked myself, wether you can create a second RTRR user.

I have solved the issue now, by creating an RSYNC user for my customer.
But even there I say that I can only create 1 Rsync user.

Using 4.3.6.0805
Friendly Greetings,

The Qnap implementation assume communication with fully trusted peers and doesn't support multiple users for the named protocols. For the type of b2b-communication you have there, I first come to think of FTP.
RAID have never ever been a replacement for backups. Without backups on a different system (preferably placed at another site), you will eventually lose data!

A non-RAID configuration (including RAID 0, which isn't really RAID) with a backup on a separate media protects your data far better than any RAID-volume without backup.

All data storage consists of both the primary storage and the backups. It's your money and your data, spend the storage budget wisely or pay with your data!
