Seagate IronWolf 8TB (ST8000VN0022) with SC61 firmware not recognised by TS-231P

Post by mgxma »

Has anyone experienced any issues with Seagate IronWolf 8TB (ST8000VN0022) with SC61 firmware not being recognised by QNAP TS-231P? It kept saying the drives are missing even though they are on the QNAP official compatibility list for TS-231P (although the FW listed was SC60). This is very frustrating as I bought two of theses drives based on QNAP's official compatibility list and I'm unable to use them. Any help would be appreciated.

That's interesting because the QNAP compatibility list for TS-251 also shows SC60 firmware only. Can I ask which QTS version are you running on your TS-251? Mine is running version 4.3.6.0805.

I have already but QNAP support is not very responsive. Hope they will release a fix for this quickly.

I'm also running 4.3.6.0805. The disk in my 251 is bought in nov 2016 and at time of installation the fw on the 251 was 4.2.2 build 02092016, so I guess the fw version is not relevant. Although chances both drives being DOA are slim have you checked them on a PC with the Seatools diagnostic program from Seagate?

Hey OP. Sorry to hear you're experiencing trouble with your drive. Reading the other users' comments that they've not experienced the same issue with same QTS version and same model, it might be that you want to look into a potential RMA. Here's our Warranty & Replacements Page if you need it.
