Cannot access https://www.myqnapcloud.com via web

Post by dhodory »

Has something changed with QNAP in the last 30 days?
I have the above URL set up in my bookmarks and routinely (couple times a week) used to click on it, log in, and access my files from work (or other locations).
I am not getting a "Your connection is not secure" error message trying to get to that URL and the following error message and description:

"www.myqnapcloud.com uses an invalid security certificate."

"Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER"

Any idea of what is going on here? QNAP's myQNAPcloud service was fantastic and not being able to access it anymore is a major hitch in my step.

At least for me the certificate is valid. Hacked client or Man-In-The-Middle attack?
Do you get the same error when using a mobile device or a random computer?

Did you read viewtopic.php?f=50&t=146352 and viewtopic.php?f=45&t=146605 ?

There may be also a simple explanation that you deleted the Amazon root certificates from your certificate store.

I access primarily from work and just tried on my mobile from work (on work WiFi) and got the same message. Disabled work WiFi and did not get the message.
So, it would appear that we made some sort of network security change here at work.

Either access it blocked and the error page to be shown is created by a random CA.
Or it's SSL content inspection. Anyhow in this case the root certificate should be in the trust store and one may wonder why it fails for this domain.
