Why do I have empty "@Recently-Snapshot" folders in my Web and Download shares?

Post by alokeprasad »

I am not using the default folders Download and Web for anything AFAIK. Admin is the only account that has R/W access to these. Other users have a "Deny Access" setting.

I am seeing 2 folders in Web and Download: @Recently-Snapshot and @Recycle
For each of these (in Web and Download), the @Recently-Snapshot folder has empty directories corresponding to snapshots (I suppose..)

Is this normal? Why do these exist in these seemingly unrelated (Web, Download) folders?

Can/should I delete these folders?

Never mind! Should have read the manual.
http://docs.qnap.com/nas/QTS4.3.4/en/GU ... 9D0DF.html

"Enable this feature to show a special read-only folder at the root level of each shared folder. Making the folder visible allows users to browse its contents and restore previous versions of files using copy and paste."

This option in Snapshots Global Settings enables viewers to view the shared folders snapshots when connected via SAMBA/CIFS or AFP.
