Synchronizing files between server & nas with ntfs and sharing permissions

Post by xstelios »

Hi

We have a Windows Server 2012r2 based file server and we are trying to synchronize (one-way sync from servet to nas) files with a TS453-A including the ntfs and sharing permissions. Both machines are joined in the domain. We have succesfully managed to get our files synchronized with seting up RTRR in QNAP but I guess something we have missed, as the ntfs and sharing permissions are not sycnhronizing at all. Actually the option "Replicate ACL and extended attritubes" in synchronization policy is grayed out, although we have enable "Windows ACL support" in "advanced permissions" options of Shared Folders.

Are we missing something??

Are you using Active Sync and RTRR?

CIFS/SMB is diabled on mine too.
I would not use HBS for that.
Push it from the server to the NAS with something that supports ACLs. (Netbak replicator, etc)

Netbak replicator does not support ACL either. Why I shouldn't use HBS for that?

There's millions of free ones.
HBS doesn't push from host does it.
