wow, all this 4.4.1 stuff is nice!

And finally, it will be a snap to disable thumbnail generation!

Entered the NAS world with a TS-251+ in December 2016. As of December 2020, disks are now used in a TS-253D. :geek:

yes i too am excited, but.... i kinda want to have some hands on experience first before i make a final declaration of just how good it is.

It is (based on the intro videos) quite promising 8)

I just hope that the thumbnail generation toggle also applies to things like filestation. So all the thumbnail generation would be consolidated into the multimedia console management.

I'm not expecting other thumbnail generations by other apps like Plex to be managed by QNAP, but i at the very least expect that QNAPs native apps have a consolidated/unified management UI to enable/disable without having to browse to many other apps and pages in QTS UI to do so. Thats my hope anyway with this upcoming feature

QuMagie looks promising but by crikey could they make their promotional videos any more boring and hard to watch??! Surely QNAP could pay for one native English speaker/voiceover to present the videos with excitement as a proper advertisement rather than a dull monotone presentation of two people reading from a teleprompter?! It is excruciating to watch and the benefits of the product are lost in the crap presentation.
Roll on 4.4.1!

thought you'd want to know their making a new video for the upcoming new facial detection revamp for photostation (i'm assuming they meant for qumagie since this is coming with QTS 4.4.1) 8)
https://live.qnap.com/en/video/show/3447

what we already know from previous videos, is that it has facial, object and location recognition. maybe they can elaborate more and on other things not touched upon yet. will be interesting.

Guapo81 wrote: Fri Jul 27, 2018 3:31 pm In general I think this feature is very nice and working quite good at the moment, got it working quite nicely myself.

Only BIG thing that makes it very frustrating at the moment is the bug already mentioned by moogle, that if you see a mismatch and you change the person of the face match you get a prompt.
It asks you if you only want that single image to change or all the ones linked to the "wrong" person. When you then choose only the single photo it sometimes still links all the photo's to the other person.
So instead of having 8000 recognised photo's of my daughter and 5000 of my son, after trying to alter one photo, I now have 13000 recoginised photo's of my son :(
And no way of pulling these apart automatically..
Hope they fix this soon though because like I mentioned the feature is actually very nice.

B.t.w. does anyone know if there's a way to (re-)trigger the process to run through all the photo's again for recognition? I deleted quite some face detection data for a lot of photo's thinking that they would reappear again in the suggested page when run again through the recognition process, but don't think the software actually does this?..
This is a real Bug. It always occures if you have corrected the 'wrong person' afterward tell Photo Station it is only for this image and make then the mistake to say you want to link the new image to the new given person. On this moment it not only link the new Image but also all pictures from the first proposed person to the given new Person. Very frustrating if you just sorted 20 Photosesions and you have to resort them. :?

Yes, that! Absolutely annoying.
What's also getting more and more annoying about this is the fact that they are doing absolutely zip to solve this major bug!
Doesn't sound reasonable to me that supposedly they don't read in to this forum, because I'm pretty sure they do.
Next to that they are not responding in any comprehensive way to a support request regarding this topic...

Looks to me as if they have zero clue about it or just don't give a ... about it.
Transferring at least all pictures to google drive is becoming more tempting every day, allthough it's a shame i'd even have to consider it..

What exactly makes you think that ? .. Besides the occasional IOT and presales blip.. no interaction from QNAP devs/staff here at all.

It's a community forum .. says it right there on top of the page..

No hard evidence off course, but educational guessing at best.. (Apart from the fact that I'm also just annoyed by the fact that this issue is not getting handled)

Let's just say; If I were a producer of NAS boxes and came across a "community" forum, where a whole bunch of people were discussing my hardware, software, issues, etc. and discussing and debugging as they went along... I just don't think I would pass for the opportunity to use this in my advantage just because it's a... ""Community"" forum...

Well this forum is run/hosted by QNAP (qnap.com) .. so they obviously would not "stumble" upon it.

QNAP used to be active in this forum, but for many years now .. (7+) participation by QNAP has been kept to a very bare minimum (mostly crippling the forum by removing PM feature and adding useless autocensorship to certain websites and words)

I don't disagree with you that a manufacturer should be more involved, but on the other hand ... would you want active censorship in this forum as well ? Threads with negative product image would just go and "disappear". .. Because that could happen as well.

Just read the changelog for latest update of photo station:
Photo Station 6.0.7 for QTS 4.4.2
( 2020/05/07 )
[Fixed Issues]
- If a photo tag's name was changed, all related photos would be affected.
- Users could not view photos in Photo Station's folder view if a home shared folder was a content source.

[Other Changes]
- Removed support for YouTube, Facebook, and Pixlr.
Guess this looks promising enough to go and give it a try..
