[TS251+] Surveillance QVR tutorial

Post by stanzani »

I want to setup a simple (2 IP cameras) surveillance system and I cannot easy find a turial. I want to use free-of-charge stuff which operates smoothly and simply
Where should I start? In the app center I see QVR Center / Guard / Pro (I think I have to pay for this) and finally the Surveillance Station
Please advise how to start or address me to a tutorial or wiki from Qnap
Firmware rev. 4.3.3
Thanks for your patience

hi,

Just try QVR Pro, it is "FREE" for 8 channels recording.
QVRR Center is used for managing multiple QVR Pro, Surveillance Station or QVR 5.1 servers.

Get the user manual from the app center or the following link:
https://download.qnap.com/Surveillance/ ... Manual.zip

however, make sure your NAS meets the basic system requirements

OK thanks
I did some homework. I read the manual package but I'd like to get a step-by-step guide / tutorial / app note for setting up a system which records just whenever ther is motion in the camera range. I am trying to add an event but I get confused by the menu presented by QVR (rules, thresholds etc.)
I find the manual describes the menus very well but lacks of examples
I see both qvi and mp4 files are stored in the recording storage. How can I have just one formati?
Thanks for your help

Over a year later and your question hasn't been answered. I would like to know the same thing in order to claim 50% of recording space back!
