renaming Windows Domain name

Post by cermak »

Hi,
I'd like to ask something. I have several QNAPs connected to Windows Server domain controller. I need to rename the Windows domain from, let's say, old.domain to new.domain. I have several complex ACL permissions set on these QNAPs. What should I do with QNAP configuration after I rename the Windows domain? Will simply connecting it into the new domain work? My fear is losing all those ACL permissions.

Thank you.

For anyone that might be wondering about the same thing - I went through with the Domain Rename, disconnected QNAP, connected to the new Domain name and ACL permissions were working as before. The only thing that got removed was AD permissions on root share folder, but all subfolders are working as before. So this case is closed.
