Full file path required when using ssh

Post by mcguinnessp »

Good morning

New to th eQNAp NAS so hopefully this makes sense.

I have a number of servers which I want to back up to QNAP. I have two options for this, first one is SMB/CIF, which I would rather avoid if possible and the other is SFTP.

The issue I have is that when logging into the NAS using SFTP it takes me into the root level, In order then to get to the home folder I have to use the full network path, eg /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/homes/backups. This means that on the server which I want to backup I need to specify /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/homes/backup as the storage path.
I am using a login called backups to connect and have enabled ssh on this account. What I want is for this login to take me directly into /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/homes/backup and not the root level.
Meaning that on the server I simple enter / as the backup directory

Hope this makes sense
