Only two cameras for QVR Pro motion detect?

Post by Beemer2 » Tue Aug 13, 2019 11:24 pm

I have four Dahua cameras and want to use QVR Pro for motion detection. After setting up two cameras and trying to set up a third I have just received a QVR Pro message saying " You have exceeded the number of cameras that QVR Pro can detect motion" This is just another issue in the use of QVR Pro that is annoying me. Another is the almost complete lack of advice concerning practical motion event settings.

Is the two camera motion detect limit a known issue?

It's a processing power limitation in the specific NAS that's handling the video analytics.

Generally, the camera itself is much better at handling the motion and other event detection, and passing on the notifications to the NAS app for the configured action such as recording.
This is because the camera has a special-purpose DSP (digital signal processor) that does the video encoding and imaging analytics.
The NAS just has its CPU.
