hi guys, i have a ts-231p and i use it as a file server and some user will have VPN access with openvpn.... my question is can i disable some apps or services to reduce the load ?

not much room for improvement on that nas..but if you have installed apps..you can certainly disable them

you could port trunk the 2 Ports together yes. Balance-alb or balanced-tlb would increase overall throughput, but you will only get 1GB max speed from one IP sesssion. 2GB data throughput from multiple IP sessions.
an example is shown here using 2 x 10GB ports but the same can be done with 2 x 1GB ports. https://www.qnap.com/tr-tr/how-to/tutor ... -qnap-nas/
vpn traffic speed will be limited via your broadband/fibre upload/download speeds and the NAS's CPU resources. dont expect high end speeds.
