Yes but there is a bug in 9.0.0 with that, and we have a fix waiting to go out, so please wait until the next release before trying that :)

Interesting! If Stéphane confirms, QJDK8 won't be listed anymore below Dependencies...

OK, let's ditch the QTS utility and do it with 'sed':

Code: Select all

cd /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/UniversalMediaServer
sed -i 's|^log_level\ =.*|log_level\ =\ TRACE|' UMS.conf
grep log_level UMS.conf

TRACE is set! Now I will do a quick test and a quick look at debug.log before going to bed because it's late and I must wake up early.

wow Houston I think we have a problem! I see path that make no sense...

I have many lines showing like this one:

Code: Select all

TRACE 2019-09-10 02:32:24.502 [Library Scanner] Could not match any format to "/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/homes/admin/UMS/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/linux/jre-x64/bin/javaws"
What I wanted to paste is too big so here is I think the most intertesting parts:

Nice one setting the log_level!

So I have no idea what is causing that first one. I don't know if that is a bug in UMS or your config or what. You can package the logs along with all relevant files on the Logs tab in the UMS window, just click down the bottom "Pack debug files" and click "Zip selected files", then you can upload that zip file to give us complete information.

Part of the errors in that second chunk of code seem to indicate that mkfifo is missing so maybe that needs to be a dependency. We recently had a PR with a similar change for our Docker image https://github.com/UniversalMediaServer ... 1820/files

Let's hope Stéphane will be able to assist you as he's the one who create QPKG...

Funny thing is maybe UMS on QNAP never really worked as intended, at least in transcoding. I'm using it since many months but what I usually listen to is playable without transcoding so in the end looks like I was using UMS only to navigate in my multimedia files.

first thing is mkfifo command missing on NAS

java.io.IOException: Cannot run program "mkfifo": error=2, No such file or directory

may be need to be added on next release

this PATH is weird : (may a wrong symlink in /homes/admin) need to be checked /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/homes/admin/UMS/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/ .....

but it is concerning only the library scanning set by default in /share ...it look like kind of loops.. may be set it in user space /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA (if it is your volume with datas)

also seems it is still looking in /tmp instead of my exported TMPDIR

this is weird too ... /tmp/UMS-admin/ffmpegvideo_57_1568082744494 (No such file or directory)

seems to be tempfile for transcoding purpose

Stéphane if you want me to test a new QPKG tonight let me know.
You are 6 hours later than me here in Canada so it's when you'll sleep that I will be able to test.

can you please have a try to 9.0.0.1

did some modification on symlink and added mkfifo to NAS $PATH (arm64 and x86_64 version only for moment)

IT WORKS! Possibly the first time ever it is really working since you compile it in fact... ;-)

I will try to edit UMS.conf to only scan inside Multimedia and not all inside Share. I should be able using OneCD method.

I must go to work now but quickly wanted to test before, I was excited when I saw the new QPKG this morning. Thanks!

Thanks for the quick work on this. We will soon do our next release too which will fix the bug where UMS is still relying on the installed Java. With our combined fixes I hope we will have some happy users :)

After setting scan to /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/Multimedia/ I don't see all the lines like above. Now I just need to find out how to ignore /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/Multimedia/.*

I had it working with 9.0.0.1 and then I installed the latest found at https://qnapclub.eu/fr/qpkg/220 which list 9.0.3 but when installed shows 9.3.0 so it must be a typo but the fact is the configuration that was done by Stéphane (UMS.conf) in a previous version is not in this one so I still have issues like before.

9.4.1 is the latest, can it be made available with fixed previously found please?
