You are correct, the KC2000's are not listed, so if it does not work - you are on your own.

Thanks Bob for feedback, much appreciated (Will likely contact u for direct help as our new offices gear up). Since you have installed both the 1677xu-rp and the 1683xu-rp, I may as well ask if you notice a performance difference at all between them? We are looking to buy 2 units for now, one for each office site (Shanghai, Toronto)

Best price I can see for 1677xu-rp (16G version) is $4300 usd
Best price I can see for 1683xu-rp (16G version) is $4850 usd

The $500 price difference is immaterial (Like you, our time is far more important)
We're not stuck on getting intel or amd....we're fine with either.
Both the Shanghai and Toronto site would be used the same way (Just two, not more than 3 video editors will work off the NAS box).

Attitude is more of, okay sure let's save a dollar where we can, but at the same time spending $500 on $9k box+disks we don't mind if there is a corresponding performance benefit for the extra money.

Having read the published specs which are hard to compare, just wondering which way you or folks in this forum might lean based on real-world experience?

Qnap just listed Kc2000 in the compatibility list, which is the right timing as I just received the 1677xu-RP.

From a pure CPU performance perspective, the Ryzen CPU is much more powerful than the Intel between those 2 CPU's. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/In ... 3432vs3240

Now if you are mainly just using this for a NAS box for your video editors, this likely won't come into play much (if at all) unless your are running VM's / Docker containers on the device as well. For just pure storage use, the CPU probably won't make much (if any) difference.

Bob Zelin can speak much more authoritatively than I can regarding any other real-world differences he has seen between the 2 platforms.

meh - I can't speak with much more authority. I have put in both the TS-1677XU-RP and the TS-1683XU-RP. They both perform equally. Some people like Intel - and QNAP puts this on the "enterprise page" - and puts the TS-1677XU-RP on the "SMB" page - so they think that the enterprise page is the "better" system. To me - for video editing applications - its the same box (and the AMD TS-1677XU-RP is cheaper).

Advice needed.

I have 16 x 12TB HDD and 4 x 1TB Kingston NVMe with QM2-4P-384 with the TS-1677XU-RP

Should I do:
Qtier with 4 x 1 TB on Raid10 , 16 x 12TB on Raid60 , or
Qtier with 4 x 1 TB on Raid5, 16 x 12 TB on Raid60 ?

The main intention of using Qnap is for enterprise file sharing (media files and office archive), backup files and potentially SQL DB for some transaction and photos logging.

Also since you are already using NVMe, I doubt raid-10 is going to make a huge difference, and would go raid-5.

By the way, I sort of remember the QTS will be installed on first drive set. How about my case with NVMe drive on QM2 cars? Will it install on those Nvme drive?

Solved the question.

Installed the QM2 only and QTS is automatically installed in the Nvme disk. Now just need to plug in the normal HDD and configure the raid for both ssd and hdd in qtier.
