Hybrid Backup Sync: Where are detailed logs?
I'm trying to back up a directory tree (about 260GB) to external USB device formatted as exFAT. Hybrid Backup Sync fails with the following message:
[Hybrid Backup Sync] Failed to complete Backup job: "Local Backup 1". File or directory doesn't exist. Attempting to retry. Error code: -2.
Nothing else is going on in the system, so the actual message appears to be suspect, and indicative of a different issue. All apps updated to the latest version allowed by app center. Firmware at the latest version for this hardware.
Are detailed logs or error files kept somewhere? If yes, could someone please point me to them.
- Or is there any other idea on how to find the offending 'File or directory [that] doesn't exist'?
- Or are there other recommendations to making a backup of a specific tree? (I'm even tempted to use SSH/Putty and see if CPIO is available.)
TIA
/Hans
running QNAP 4.3.4 latest on TS-469L. 669L. and 869L

Re: Hybrid Backup Sync: Where are detailed logs?
in HBS, select All Jobs in the left pane. Click on the entry in the "Job Name " (Local Backup 1, in your case). A window will pop up with "Job status" and "Job logs" tabs.
Select Job Logs.
Select Job Logs.

I don't see the same options, if I'm understanding your comment correctly. This is what I see. Just a combined "Job Status and Logs" window, nothing very detailed. I am not experiencing any issues at the moment but would like a more detailed log for other reasons.

I have the same question (/need). One of my cloud jobs terminates with errors and do not know how to determine which file(s) trigger the error(s). HBS3 version 3.0.190923.

The Diagnostic Tool has more detailed logs or use SSH "log_tool -qv"

Re: Hybrid Backup Sync: Where are detailed logs?
Thanks a lot storageman. I had already seen the Diagnostic Tool but it either is too complex to be read or doesn't contain the info I need. log_tool just reports what is already in syslog viewer ( "Check system log for details" ... ).storageman wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 5:57 pm The Diagnostic Tool has more detailed logs or use SSH "log_tool -qv"
In case I do find (get) a solution (might be I'll open a ticket to qnap) I will post the info here.
Thank you.

If you step through these screens, you'll eventually download a zip file with numerous linux files (that I don't understand). They may have the detailed logs you are looking for.

I update the apps manually in the AppCenter even if I delay updating to the latest firmware (because of issues reported here).

Re: Hybrid Backup Sync: Where are detailed logs?
Hi, thankls a lot, didn't know about that. It actually creates a subset of the diagnostic report output which already had the info I needed: I had to look a little bit deeper...
The extended file listing, including all the information about failures, is system/<folder name>/log/syncengine.log (and syncengine.log.<n> ).
Thanks everybody!
P.S my failure is probably just dealing with the .streams path backup attempt.

1. start hbs app
2. click on the 3 dot menu on upper right corner
3. Select debug report
that allows you to download a zip file with all different log files.

2020 and still is the tab missing that existed in HBS 2.
I checked those logs @coupeborgward posted, but those are massive log files with every http connection and action. I was not able to find a way to filter these logs by errors/success.

Re: Hybrid Backup Sync: Where are detailed logs?
I found the detailed descriptions in the diagnostics zip. It's in , example:
Code: Select all
system/<job name>/logs/qsync-<uuid>.log
[2022/07/25 15:42:42] # WARNING: The second path of the folder pair [Example, target/Example/] is invalid or inaccessible, the synchronization will skip this folder pair.
