Was able to remove it using Qboost and the Application Management table.

It's sitting there in App Center among the updates... just need to refrain from absent-mindedly complying...

Which App did you remove from the Application Management table, did it appear as "Multimedia Console"?

With the Slider set to enabled within "Multimedia Console" itself I see the "itunes server" showing in Qboost/Application Management, but that's all. If I set the slider to "disabled" even "itunes server" is removed from the Qboost/Application Management table.

This is on a fresh NAS tho - within the Multimedia Console App both "Index" and "Thumbnail" show as "Not Started". That may be why I'm not seeing anything.

I have the same issue...

My storage on HDD2+3 is encrypted and has sensitive data on it. I totally DONT WANT QNAP to index ANY of these files, especially NOT to create thumbnails or ANY data, which could identify ANY of the data on the encrypted RAID.

How do I delete any thumbnails or indexed files, is there a howto or list of directories I have to delete somewhere? I have changed the slider to "Disabled" https://i.imgur.com/hoX3a6Z.png but I am not sure if this is enough. Are there still any indixed files still saved on the HDD1 system partition, which could leak data of HDD2+3 which is encrypted? Is there another index service running next to the multimedia one, for searching, which leaks data, I can stop?

I only use the free Twonky provided by QNAP, leaving QNAP's owne DLNA server disabled, but to stop the horrible Multimedia Console from indexing everyhting I can olny use its slider and that disables Twony too.
Perhaps you ought to try the package from QnapClub built by QNAP_Stephane instead.

https://qnapclub.eu/en/qpkg/414

It's free, it's the same server version as provided by QNAP, the package is named 'slightly' different, so you could have both installed at the same time, with one disabled while testing the other - to see if it's tied to Multimedia Console like QNAP's own addon, or not. You have nothing to lose by trying.

That's actually a pretty good suggestion, thank you!
Silly question: is it safe? Does Qnapclub repo effectively check the packages for security and stablity? Sorry, but I've never tried that app store.

I couldn't possibly say. It's up to you to decide if you wish to trust them, and QNAP_Stephane / Qoolbox's addons or not.

The site requires you create a (free) account, and you *may* be required to pay a nominal fee for *some* of the apps they provide, but it's mainly ones they see as offering "premium" features, and the small fee is somewhat offset by the fact that updates will not require any further payments.

Installed the Twonky app from there but it requires registration at the company which has bought it, so I didn't go ahead.
